Hypnotherapy can meet a wide variety of needs - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.  Hypnotherapy can be used as a stand alone intervention, or as one part of comprehensive counseling services.  I can also provide hypnotherapy only as an occasional adjunct, while you continue working with your current therapist.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a powerful therapeutic modality that accesses body, mind, emotions and spirit. This process will allow you to rewrite the programming that is running in the operating system of your mind - the neural matrix. It will allow you to make conscious decisions about which old, unhelpful programs to let go of and which new ones to begin running. We do this by releasing toxic malware and viruses from the neural matrix of your mind in the form of stored trauma, self-deprecating conclusions, and maladaptive decisions about how to behave. Together, we then begin uploading healthier, more loving and affirming emotional pathways, conclusions about yourself, and decisions about how to walk in the world.   This will change the way you feel in your body, the way your mind perceives the world around you, and the way your emotional cascade reacts.

The vast majority of a person's internal experience (about 75-80%) is subconscious learning throughout our lifetime - through our experiences, conversations with other people, and even our inner dialogue. A good bit of that internal landscape is established before we are even 5 years old, and the majority of it is in place by the time we are 18-25 years old. The primary function of hypnotherapy and trauma-work is to consciously and intentionally reset the color, tone, and texture of our internal emotional landscape.

Hypnotherapy induces beta brainwave state (also known as hypnosis) and then begins the therapy process from this altered state of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is unique because it can access subconscious material quickly and easily. Under hypnosis, pre-verbal and very early memories, and their unconscious influence on our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are accessible and malleable. Hypnotherapy pulls up the roots of our ingrained habits and ways of reacting to the world - developed in childhood or in adulthood - so that we may consciously choose how to move forward.

How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

This process uses hypnotic trance which occurs when the brain is in beta state. This is the simple shifting back and forth between the conscious and subconscious mind. This is a natural process that occurs every day. However, in hypnotherapy this natural process is cultivated and harnessed in order to cultivate conscious, intentional growth and evolution. The induction of the trance state requires gentle breathwork and utilization of a fixed eye gaze to guide you into a state of deep relaxation. You will be totally aware of what is happening, you will remain in complete control of yourself, and remember everything that happens during the session.

H ypnotic trance state is different from naturally occurring trance because the hypnotherapist is inducing the trance state for you. A hypnotherapist is able to hold the trance state much longer than most people can on their own, and can control the trance state to uncover understanding and move towards healing.

How Can Hypnotherapy Help Me?

While hypnosis and hypnotherapy are in the same family, they are slightly different processes. Hypnosis is comprised of induction of the trance state, and includes hypnotic suggestions to work on specific behaviors such as weight loss, smoking cessation, reducing cravings and addictive impulses.

Hypnotherapy induces hypnosis and then begins the therapy process from this altered state of consciousness.  Hypnotherapy helps both therapists and client get closer to the true source, roots, and foundation of a client’s presenting issues by opening the doorway to the subconscious mind.  Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to access the true source of distressing symptoms such as:

  • depression, anxiety and compulsive behaviors
  • to heal trauma physically mentally emotionally and spiritually
  • to reveal and release old unhelpful conclusions about ourselves and decisions about how to behave in the world
  • to call in new healthier conclusions about self and new ways to walk in the world
  • to reconnect with dissociated emotions and disowned parts of ourselves

We can use this healing process to harness the tremendous power of the subconscious mind, the heart-center, the intuition, and spiritual healing.

What are some of the benefits of hypnotherapy compared to other therapeutic modalities?

One of the core differences between hypnotherapy and other methods is depth and speed. Hypnotherapy techniques like deep relaxation/trance state and the emotional bridges guided by your own neural matrix are possible because of the induced beta state. As a result of this, hypnotherapists are able to access the subconscious and unconscious more quickly than traditional methods. Hypnotherapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, compulsive behaviors, relational distress, and countless other issues heal - and begin to live life fully again - much faster than traditional methods. Valuable healing work can begin as quickly as one or two sessions.

An important benefit of hypnotherapy is that you will be able to cultivate additional healing between sessions each time you go back into beta state. Each time you go to sleep, meditate, or use the hypnotic anchors that you will learn in session you will return to beta state - and continue the healing work we will begin in our sessions. This process allows your limbic system to heal and rewire itself on an ongoing basis.

At each moment you choose intentions

that will shape your experiences.

And you choose the things upon which

you will focus your attention.

If you choose unconsciously,

you evolve unconsciously.

If you choose consciously,

You evolve consciously.
